Credit fraud alerts and report freezes can impact the underwriting process for consumer credit or charge card products. Use the simulations in this guide to replicate these credit report inquiry results and test your integration.
Overview
Note: This simulation is only available for consumer credit or charge card products.
When an account holder applies for a consumer credit or charge card product, a credit report is pulled for underwriting. Credit report inquiries can result in a Credit Underwriting Decision In Review status if a fraud alert or credit report freeze is found for the account holder. If an application results in this status, take the following actions to resolve the issue:
- Credit report fraud alerts: Contact the account holder and verify their identity.
- Credit report freezes: The account holder must contact the applicable credit bureau and remove the freeze on their credit report.
Simulate fraud alert
In the live environment, you must contact the account holder to verify their account holder details and verify they applied for your card product using the Highnote dashboard.
Use the following steps to simulate a fraud alert and test the workflow for verifying an account holder's details:
- Create a person account holder and use 222-222-2222 as the account holder's phone number. This value is a simulation value that triggers a fraud alert.
- Open an application for a consumer credit or charge card product.
- On the application details page, click Verify Fraud Resolution.
- In the fraud resolution form, use the checkboxes to verify the accuracy of the account holder's details. If the account holder can't verify all details listed on this form, the application will be denied when the form is submitted.
- Click Submit Fraud Resolution Verification.
- After submitting the form, the credit underwriting results status will update to Passed.
Simulate credit freeze
In the live environment, you must contact the account holder and request that they remove credit freezes from their credit reports. After an account holder removes a credit freeze, you can confirm the unfrozen state in the Highnote dashboard.
Use the following steps to simulate a credit freeze and test the workflow for confirming an unfrozen credit report:
- Create a person account holder and use 111-111-1111 as the account holder's phone number. This value is a simulation value that triggers a credit freeze.
- Open an application for a consumer credit or charge card product.
- On the application details page, click Confirm Report Unfrozen.
- Optional - In the confirmation form, add a note.
- Click Submit Confirm Report Unfrozen.
- After submitting the form, the credit underwriting results status will update to Passed.
