Card products represent your card program and its components. This includes applications, financial accounts, payment cards, bank accounts, and transactions. This guide provides an overview of card product types, verticals, and features.
Types of card products
The Highnote platform provides flexibility to create modern card products that fit your business's unique needs. Card products fall under two main types:
- Commercial: Designed for businesses and organizations to help manage company expenses, travel, procurement, and more
- Consumer: Intended for individual use by consumer cardholders for personal spending and finance management
Card product verticals
Card product verticals are card product categories that represent the purpose of the card product. Refer to the following table for an overview of the card product verticals supported by Highnote:
Vertical | Description |
Commercial charge | A charge card for businesses that requires the balance to be paid in full at the end of each billing cycle |
Consumer charge | A charge card for consumers that requires the balance to be paid in full at the end of each billing cycle |
Consumer credit | A credit card designed for personal use where cardholders carry a balance from month to month, subject to interest |
Secured commercial charge | A type of commercial charge card backed by collateral, usually in the form of a cash deposit or other assets |
Fleet | Designed for businesses managing fleets, these cards are used to pay for fuel, maintenance, and other vehicle-related expenses |
AP automation | A card solution that automates accounts payable processes for businesses |
Consumer prepaid | A reloadable card with debit capabilities for personal use, pre-funded with the consumer's funds |
Commercial prepaid | A reloadable card with debit capabilities for business use, pre-funded with the business's funds |
Payroll | A card issued by employers to pay wages to employees; the employer loads funds onto the card each payday |
Card product features
Highnote supports a variety of features for each card product vertical. Available features differ depending on the card product. Highnote supports the following card product features:
- Authorized users: Add secondary cardholders to a financial account. Authorized users don't require the same access level as the primary account holder
- Collaborative authorization: Approve or decline transactions in real-time based on your business logic
- Collaborative application decisioning: Approve or deny applications for your card product based on your credit policy
- On-demand funding: Allow financial accounts to maintain a $0 balance until authorization and support real-time card funding
